The South Lakes community opened in 2007 with the promise “Small town. Big plans.” Fuquay- Varina’s first master planned community quickly became one of the Triangle’s most popular new lifestyle communities. Those big plans have been realized. The North Carolina Home Builders Association honored South Lakes as North Carolina’s Master Planned Community of theYear in 2009. And now, more than 200 families have selected South Lakes as home.

community-of-the-yearHomebuyers appreciated the natural setting, preserved open space, extensive greenway and boardwalk trails, and views of the lake. They liked the unique way of life South Lakes offers, combining small town charm with all of the amenities of today’s active lifestyle. As residents, they’ve enjoyed the neighborhood’s recreational amenities including the junior Olympic pool, water features, cabana, and playground. They like the neighborhood feel South Lakes provides for their families. With 2007 plans completed, Preston Development Company is not resting on South Lakes’ early successes. Even bigger plans have been made for the future—and those plans are now being implemented: The final phases of South Lakes are now open. Expansion of the recreation center is underway (including pool facility, grills, and a larger playground) for even more fun.

The biggest expansion is taking place across the lake with the opening of the all new North Lakes neighborhood. Accessible from South Lakes on Jones Lake Road and by its own entrances on Old Honeycutt Road, North Lakes will offer 400+ homesites when complete. New recreational opportunities to enjoy the lake will include an openair shelter, t-pier, and kayak launch— all scheduled to open in Summer 2016—just in time for summer fun. Future plans include a Wake County high school, elementary school, and Town of Fuquay-Varina park adjacent to North Lakes. Bigger plans are being made and fulfilled. Make your plans now to be a part of South Lakes!
