Just across the road from your family’s new dream house at the South Lakes new home community, construction is underway on Willow Spring High School, the first of two New Schools in Fuquay Varina that are scheduled to begin operation in the calender year of 2019.
The initial proposal from the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Board of Education, the first of the two New Schools in Fuquay Varina that is slated to operate on the land that was sold to the WCPSS by Preston Development, who are the developers of the near by South Lakes new home community was approved initially at their October 17, 2017 meeting. The most recent step in the in the project moving forward was the approval by the WCPSS Board saw them approve the schematic designs at the May 17 meeting.
The design, which was prepared by RATIO architects will have this first of the two New Schools in Fuquay Varina boasting 110 teaching spaces and allow a capacity of 2,262 students. The 54-acre site at 1704 Old Honeycutt Road (on the corner of Old Honeycutt and Kennebec Roads) will have four stories and will initially serve as a swing facility for Fuquay Varina High School, while it undergoes a renovation process of its own.
Willow Spring High School, along with South Lakes Elementary School (set also for a 2019 completion) bring an even more alluring aspect to the already family friendly and “community-first” atmosphere of the South Lakes new home community as these two New Schools in Fuquay Varina are literally right across the road from the neighborhood. The staff members and students are set to move into and begin classes at the currently under construction school for the fall semester of 2019.
