South Lakes: Linking to the Parks

With numerous projects already in the planning stages and beyond in the town of Fuquay Varina, South Lakes residents will not only reap the benefits of having many new options to explore in the way of outdoor recreation nearby, but will also see this expansion connect right into their backyards to the Depot Trail.

With construction already underway near South NC Highway 55, a segment of the Depot Trail, a greenway, will eventually find itself running directly through and connecting to the South Lakes community. Once complete, the trail will offer residents a convenient and scenic direct route to Honeycutt Road Park.

Several other ways to enjoy the scenery that Fuquay has to offer have also either recently been completed or will be soon as well. The Alston Ridge Park, located at 6850 Hilltop-Needmore Road opened in the not so distant past and already has brought much enjoyment to the families in town, while the animal lovers of Fuquay will soon have a fresh alternative when deciding to bring their canine companions for a stroll as town workers continue to work hard as they near the completion a new dog park to be located at 110 Woodland Drive near the downtown area. The 1.5 acre fenced in park will offer two separate areas for dogs both small and large and is slated for an early fall opening date.
