You spent much time weighing your relocation options. After much research and strong consideration, your final decision was the South Lakes’ new home community. Selecting to live in Fuquay Varina, certainly has many positive factors for you and your family. One consistent selling point, especially for those relocating from out of state, is the overall, centralized location of the town. Previously, we have discussed South Lakes’ location in regard to many entertainment options. Likewise we looked at distance you are from great outdoor activities or destinations across the state. Today’s post however, is aimed at the sports fan under your roof. More specifically, we take a look at the Carolina Panthers football team of National Football League. The Panthers play their home games just a few hours away from your new home at South Lakes in Charlotte. Thus, all the great NFL action you could possibly desire is an easy Sunday drive away.

For some die-hard fans, the Carolina Panthers football team and their 2015 trip to the Super Bowl seems much longer ago than just five seasons. With a roster shakeup of sorts in the offseason and a fresh, new look to many aspects of the squad heading into 2020 things should be interesting for the Charlotte-based National Football League franchise. However, in addition to having that fresh new look, it is also a young team, so expectations immediately are not super high.

Change is in the air for the 2020 Panthers “Life after Newton”

So, anyone familiar with the history of Carolina Panthers football knows Cam Newton. Likewise, across the state, the news of him not returning this year immediately makes for interesting possibilities. Newton was the number one overall draft pick of the Panthers in 2011. This followed Cam’s storied collegiate career at Auburn, where he won both the Heisman Trophy and a National Championship. Since the 2012 season, barring injury, Newton has been the team’s quarterback, led them to an NFC Championship and a birth in the Super Bowl and is the franchise’s only ever Most Valuable Player, an award her received in 2015. However, Newton was not resigned in the offseason and will be replaced by the dynamic arm of new quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater under center this season.

With the Newton era coming to an end, and several emerging young stars from the Carolina Panthers football draft picks over the past few seasons, the 2020 group will be somewhat inexperienced. However, the drive and enthusiasm of the young and rising stars like running back Christian McCaffery give the North Carolina football faithful a bright future to look forward to regardless of wins and losses in the 2020 season.

Carolina Panthers Football Schedule 2020: Who’s Coming to Charlotte?

So, coming off two disappointing seasons in both 2018 and 2019, the move for youth and the future seems for Carolina Panthers football. With the aforementioned McCaffery seeming to baffle opposing defenses weekly, and the emergence of D.J. Rice as a legitimate superstar at Wide Receiver last year, there is a lot of potential with these weapons at the core to build around. This coupled with the addition of Bridgewater to replace Newton at quarterback does leave hope for a strong offensive season despite the personnel changes.

The Carolina Panthers football season will officially open against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, September 13. The Panthers will host not only all their division rivals, but also some teams from the AFC’s Western Conference. Games of note in which the Charlotte-based team will play on the road include a trip to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers in late December, a matchup with the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs the first weekend of November, and in Week Two a trip to Tampa Bay to battle the Buccaneers in what will be the first-ever home game for legendary quarterback, Tom Brady with any team but the Patriots.
