After years of waiting for the facility to become a reality, residents are excited to “let their creative sides out.” With all genres of art covered and programs available for all ages, it is safe to say that the Fuquay Art Classes offer a touch of something for everyone.

Offered at the Fuquay Varina Arts Center (FVAC), at 123 Vance Street, adults and children alike have the chance to learn a variety of artistic skill sets. Classes offered to include everything from painting or dyeing techniques, pencil drawing, weaving, and so much more. Some of the classes are for a full course, while others are an individual class. 

Fuquay Art Classes at the FVAC for Adults this Spring:

Beginning Watercolor for Adults is a class offered on Saturdays through April.

-Beginning Watercolor for Adults 

-Saturdays, Feb 29, Mar 14 or 28, Apr 18 or 25

-1:00-2:00 p.m.

Learn watercolor techniques to create your own original abstract artwork. Each class will focus on one specific technique. These include salting, spattering, sponging or wax resist. You will paint a greeting card to showcase the technique you’ve learned. 

-Circular Weaving

-Saturday, Mar. 7

-11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Learn to put your knowledge of tapestry weaving to a new format. You will work in circles, creating a stylish circular wall weaving, while using an embroidery hoop. There will be a review of all weaving basics also.

Learn the “ins and outs” of Adobe Photoshop at the 4 week course in March on Monday evenings.

-Game Changers in American Music History

-Thursdays, Feb. 27- Apr 9

-6:15-7:15 p.m.

From the forgotten legends of the past right up until the current day, each week’s class will focus on a stellar artist(s) who’s music made such an impact with their music that they changed American history. 

-Beginning Adobe Photoshop

-Mondays, March 2- 23

-6:00-8:00 p.m.

Adobe Photoshop is a versatile program that allows users to generate brochures, posters, cards, photo enhancements, and many other graphic designs. In this class, students will complete several projects. Each will help them in becoming better versed in all of the program’s basic tools, as well as some advanced tools. Computers and programs provided.

-Simply Beautiful Geometric Art

-Tuesday, March 3-10

-6:00 -8:00 p.m.

Students will use layered, overlapping geometric shapes to create elegant and compelling artwork. During this class, you will explore color, pattern, repetition, and variation through drawing, stenciling, and printmaking.

Saturday, March 28 (Session 1) April 25 (Session 2)

– 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Discover the magic of Indigo dye in this hands-on workshop. You will learn through sampling and demonstrations, how to create surface designs using various Shibori resist-dyeing techniques.

-Jewelry Making for Beginners

-Saturday, April 18

– 1:00- 4:00 p.m.

Come learn the technique used to make earrings by an established designer. You will make 3 pairs of earrings to take home using different beads, stones, crystals. The final pair will include freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver elements. You do not need experience in this introductory class, so spend an afternoon having fun and learning how to make your own jewelry.
