Its March Madness in NC with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Raleigh


It has become as much of a honored tradition as the Super Bowl or the World Series, and starting with first round contests on Thursday, March 18 and then hosting second round games on Saturday, March 20, “March Madness” arrives to the area, just a short drive from your new home in Fuquay Varina’s  South Lakes community, at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Raleigh.

The home of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s North Carolina State (NC State) Wolfpack, PNC Arena, will play host to four days of games filled with “buzzer-beating” and “bracket-busting” excitement as part of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Raleigh. The Triangle area is well known for its fanatical support of their college basketball squads, which in addition to the Wolfpack includes a pair of perennial favorites who are always a threat to make a run to the “Final Four,” the Duke Blue Devils and the University of North Carolina Tarheels. Thus, regardless of how the teams are seeded and who plays in the games at PNC Arena, the crowd at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Raleigh is guaranteed to be a passionate one.

On top of the two Thursday and Saturday sessions of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Raleigh, hoops enthusiasts of all ages can experience a unique welcoming party to “March Madness,” 2.5 hours before each session of games are played at the “Hoops and Hops FanFest 2016.” Fans are welcome to join in the fun until just before the opening games’ tip-off with great food, beverages, entertainment, and even a video wall playing the other tournament games from around the country.

The four locations at the “Hoops and Hops” portion of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Raleigh experience are as follows:

Hops House: On the South Plaza just outside the PNC Arena box office, with adult beverages, soft drinks, food, and big screen TV’s to view the other games.

Game Watch : A huge video wall located under the awning for fans to watch the other ongoing tournament games.

Food Truck Brigade: Just outside Carter-Finley Stadium, offering great food from many of the area’s favorite food trucks.

Fan Activity Zone: Also just outside of Carter-Finley, games and activities for fans to compete, with hoops, cornhole boards, and even face painting to represent your favorite teams colors.
