Raleigh Area Professional Baseball

The crack of the bat and the famous umpire’s call of  “Play Ball,” is just about to be heard once again just down the road from your home in the South Lakes new home neighborhood  in  Fuquay Varina, with Raleigh Area Professional Baseball set to “take the field” for opening day as both the Durham Bulls and Carolina Mudcats get ready for their 2015 seasons.

The Bulls, who play their home games at the spectacular and recently renovated Durham Athletic Park (DAP) are the Triple A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, giving fans of Raleigh Area Professional Baseball an up close look at the soon to be stars of Major League Baseball (MLB) during their final step away from reaching the “bigs.” While the Bulls are set to open their 2015 with a six game road trip, upon their return, the opening day festivities at DAP is something that all Raleigh Area Professional Baseball fans should experience. This year the team will kick off their home schedule on April 15-17 against Norfolk. With a spectacular fireworks display set to follow the action and giveaways and special prices at the concessions, a night at DAP to see the Bulls is always an inexpensive night that the whole family can enjoy. Other opponents that will be facing off in Durham against the Bulls in their opening month will be against the Charlotte Knights (April 20-23) and the Gwinnett Braves (April 24-26.)

In addition to the Bulls, heading up the road in the other direction, and playing their home games at Five County Stadium in Zebulon are the Carolina Mudcats. The “Single- A” affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, the Mudcats likewise offer a great night of family fun at the ballpark and pull out all the stops on opening day. They will open their 2015 schedule at home in Zebulon, with a four game series beginning against Salem that starts on April 9. Immediately following that series, Wilmington will visit Five County Stadium on April 13-15 and then Salem will return later in the month for another four game set on April 23-26.

With the summer months just around the corner, both the Bulls and Mudcats will be hosting some of the best young talent and showcasing the future stars of tomorrow throughout the season.
